Sex Addiction Treatment on a Budget
Sex addiction is a problem that can ruin a person's life over time, but what if the addict feels they can't afford therapy sessions or a period in a treatment center? Fortunately, there are affordable ways to recover from this addiction. One of the most profitable is a 12-step program. Most of these are free to use, while some groups ask for small donations to rent space and supply coffee or snacks. Most people have heard of the 12-step program in connection with Alcoholics Anonymous, which is where the program originated. It has been adapted to treat sex addiction and similar problems. The differences are not very deep, although some groups take a different path. Some define what sexual sobriety is for the members, while others have them define it for themselves. Others are more welcoming to homosexuals and some are more influential in religion.
When most people think of one-on-one counseling, they think of paying a psychiatrist to speak for an hour. While a good therapist is worthwhile, counseling in a more limited way can be helpful and can come from people like ministers. Even if one is not particularly religious, many spiritual leaders understand this and can help a person achieve a lifestyle that he can live with.

Staying in a center can be quite expensive, but many have outpatient options that take into account the support networks of a sex addict. To keep the cost low, a sex addict must seek a program with clearly defined goals. Therapy in general is moving towards this perspective, wanting to get people to a place where they can begin to move on with their lives and not attend therapy sessions for years.

Content blocking programs are fairly inexpensive and can block content or email reports to people you trust. Most forms of sex addiction treatment are inexpensive and cost should not be linked to effectiveness. The real cost, however, comes in time and effort, as recovering from an addiction is very difficult.
